Church

And there was one day in every week that was set apart that they should gather themselves together to teach the people, and to worship the Lord their God, and also, as often as it was in their power, to assemble themselves together. -Mosiah 18:25

The whole family is members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We became this when we were baptized at the age of eight. But we have been taught the gospel from the time we were born. Going to Church is a tradition in our family. We always go. No excuses. And we always go as a family. Mom and Dad like to show up fifteen minutes early for church, we are always the first ones there. We go and help set up chairs and get things ready. During sacrament meeting we always sit on the second row, though, I think in Emerson ward we sat on the fourth row with Grandma and Grandpa Martin. We were never allowed to sit with our friends. Church was a family time, even though all we did was sit there. Once we were eight we were no longer allowed to draw or play with toys, at that point Mom told us we were old enough to sit still and pay attention. One sad thing about a lot of LDS people is they never sing, this isn’t the case with our family. Mom and Dad always encouraged us to sing and to pay attention in church. This has been an asset to our lives. Like I said earlier we never missed church, not even when we were on vacation. On vacation we would always call the local ward house and figure out when church was so that we could attend sacrament meeting. This is because the Sacrament itself is a tradition and a very good one. We have learned in our house that it is mandatory to rely on the Savior and to partake of the Sacrament every weak. When we travel and go to church we rarely go to anything but sacrament meeting. Though, when we were Crescent City, California, the ward there was so nice we all begged Mom and Dad to allow us to stay for the rest of the meetings. Then we all learned a good lesson of what it is like to be a good ward and church member.
