Priesthood Ordinations have tradition associated with them as well. These, unlike blessings and baptisms, are more of a private family thing. Only our immediate family and Grandmas and Grandpas are invited, well and the bishop and other people who are suppose to be there for religious reasons. This only happens with the boys when they turn 12, 14, 16, and about 18. At age 12 the worthy boys receive the Aaronic Priesthood, they are then ordained into the office of a deacon, a teacher, and a priest respectively. At the age of eighteen they receive the Melchizedek Priesthood and are ordained into the office of an Elder.
Ordinations happen after the bishop has presented the young man to the members of the ward and asked for their sustaining vote to ordain this young man into an office of the priesthood. After sacrament meeting that week Grandma and Grandpa will come to support their Grandson in this big event. Grandpa will stand in the circle as well as all other worthy priesthood holders in the room while Dad ordains them to the appropriate level or office in the priesthood. Dad loves to do this. He once again wants to set an example and instill in his sons a desire to live worthy so that they too can be the one to ordain their sons. Grandpa ordained Dad and Dad has ordained all his sons; he would like his boys to be able to do the same.
